From 24-JAN-1992 to 19-OCT-1999, SickThings was a discussion mailing list for Alice Cooper fans. On 19-OCT-1999, SickThings was killed and reborn as SickThings2, an announcement only list.

I created the world's first Alice Cooper Internet discussion list on 24-JAN-1992. I initially called the list AliceFan, but in March 1994, the list subscribers lobbied for a better list name. At the suggestion of Douglas C. Ehrmantraut, the list was renamed to "SickThings" on 31-MAR-1994. (Other names were considered, including "RoadRats", "TheCoop", and others, but ultimately, I decided that "SickThings" was the best.) Once the list was renamed, "SickThings" became the name by which Alice fans on the Internet identified themselves to each other.
Doug Ehrmantraut lost his university-based e-mail account on 12-MAY-1994 and, as far as I know, never came back to SickThings. He probably has no idea how much his suggestion for the list name affected the entire Internet-based Alice fan base. (Update: In 2005, I received email from Doug, who had found this page. He knows now.)
On 7-JUN-1995, Alice's personal assistant, Brian Nelson, otherwise known as "Renfield", joined SickThings, and the quality of the information posted increased dramatically. The archives contain a wealth of information from Brian and others who were associated with Alice at different times, including Mick Mashbir, Glen Buxton's sister, and others.
The list grew from 38 subscribers on 1-JUN-1992 to 1,404 subscribers on 1-OCT-1999. Unfortunately, as the list grew, so did problems with flaming and bickering among certain members of the list. I eventually got fed up with it all and killed the discussion list on 19-OCT-1999. The last post to the SickThings list bore the subject line "Administrivia: The End and a Beginning"; in that post, I explained the reasons I decided to kill the list, and I announced the formation of SickThings2.
